In the Stylist’s Chair: Goddess Box Braids

I know I’ve been MIA for a while on the blog, but if you’ve been following me on Instagram you know all the changes that’s been going on. If not, my 7-Month Loc Update (coming soon) will catch you up. In the meantime, I wanted to share with you a great protective style that I did on my homegirl, Jess of HairGetsKinky.com, Goddess Box Braids with a hint of purple.

I was inspired to create large braids by this pic of Tae Heckard:

The large size not only protects and preserves the edges but it also means it won’t take a day and a half to take out. Another great benefit of box braids is that you don’t have to worry about doing your hair for several weeks AND you can enjoy the rain, sun, and everything in between!
To do her Box braids, we used about 16 packs of Kanekelon hair on blown out hair. The 16 packs created 43 box braids which was an average of 3 braids per pack of hair.
Here are a few pics of Jess modeling her box braids:
Be sure to following her on Instagram @HGKWW and visit her blog, HairGetsKinky.com. And if you’re in the DC, Maryland, or Virginia area interested in getting a great protective style, contact me via my website JocelynRenee.com!
