Faux Updo for Short Locs

One style that is often overlooked for short starter locs is an updo. I know you’re probably thinking your hair needs to be really long to get a decent updo, but you’re wrong. Even when your baby locs are only a few inches long, you can create an intricate updo with the addition of some Afro-textured hair.

Clip Ins

Another great option is to add afro-kinky clips over your locs! This option is very simple to install and easy to remove for daily wear— which is ideal for fine hair to short comb coils.
You want to be sure that your using quality afro-kinky hair for the clip-ins so that your locs are not damaged while wearing this style. And a great trick for less stress on your edges while wearing the clips-ins is the use of a headband to camouflage the clips-ins over your locs.

Loc Petals

You can easily create a detailed style with your short locs using Loc Petals. To create the Loc Petals, all you need are rubber bands. This style is best when your hair is recently retwisted, and as an added bonus it will make your retwist last longer.

What of box braids??? Is it good when it comes to styling short locs

Nahhhhhh let your locs be free!

Hi I’ve had my sister locks for 1 week this weds. I’m starting to get use to them. I go to the gym 5 to 6 days a week should I bundle before I go each time or is it okay to just where it down?

I am very glad I stumbled upon this site. I just started combing twist but I twist them by hand I don’t know how to use a comb lol. I haven’t permed my hair in over two years I cut that out and started fresh. I love it so far even though its quite time consuming. But ny hair is healthy and I feel better mentally if that makes sense. I no longer feel like I have to straighten or perm my hair for it to look beautiful. My mom has Caucasian hair and always put me down about my ‘nappy ass hair’. So it feels good to finally embrace my own natural thick beautiful beautiful hair.

Hi . I transitioned from relaxed hair to natural hair last year august via the big chomp. Its growin and I’d like to lock it, since it’s form sort of a ‘fro. I’d lobe to have thick locs bur not too big . Does my hair have to be relaxed to loc it? What method do you recommend to achieve thick locs and my hair type is coiled and thick on its own.

I thank you for this article. I struggle with hairstyles for my daughter who’s been locked for over a year now. I was never good with creating hairstyles for her anyway so now I really want to make sure I take care of her hair properly but also give her fun and cute styles since she’s only 6. Are there any additional styles or videos you can recommend?

All beautiful hairstyles!!!

I just started my loc journey two weeks ago. I’m self conscious due my hair looking like I don’t have any hair (freshly done). What can I do to make it look Fuller so I can uncover it and wear it proudly. I’ve always wanted locks. Love them.
